Insanity

INTO THE WILD, INTO THE QUIET

Sometimes all we need is to go back outside, into the sunshine. Sometimes all we need to do is to lace up those trainers and just go and take a walk. Forget the high impact stuff that reduces you into a huffing, puffing sweaty mess. Just take a walk.

I needed that today. It’s not been an easy week at all. Sure, there were some ups, but the downs were pretty serious ones and it really wasn’t doing me any good, both inside and out. I completely lost my appetite the past two days and was seriously under-eating. I’m talking about a measly daily intake of 700 calories and a whole lot of exhaustion that followed. I just couldn’t stomach anything despite my best efforts.

While I love working up a sweat with Shaun T on the Insanity program and while it has helped, I think what I needed today was actually to quieten my spirit down. So after Insanity Day 9’s Pure Cardio workout today, I decided that we were going to do some walking and it was going to among the green.

INSANITY: WEEK 1

Insanity Week 1: DOWN!

I won’t lie. It hasn’t been easy. Every single workout has been extremely challenging, and every morning after I woke up with sore limbs and joints. After every workout I guzzled water like a fiend because it was just a bloodbath sweat bath from the moment I pressed play till the time I lay on the floor in disbelief at having survived Shaun T’s nutso drills.

But here I am. I survived the first week and I’ve got 8 more to go.

I’M BACK AND READY TO GET INSANE

So it has been a while — a long, long while — since I’ve written anything here. Life and mostly work, have gotten in the way and I’ve just not been able to find the bandwidth to keep up with the writing and logging.

I’ve been continuing with quite a lot of hot yoga since the last time I checked in here. I get on my mat at least four times a week, and that’s really what’s been keeping me sane through the mad storms that work has been conjuring up. I’ve also completed the second round of Focus T25 with Shaun T, so the activity front’s been maintained fairly well.

What I’ve not been that great at lately is maintaining the same discipline on the food front. I could blame work and stress for causing me to make some pretty bad decisions with my diet, but really, it’s down to me just flunking out. The results that you get are rightly linked to 20% of your workouts and physical activities, and a heffer of an 80% comes from your diet. Needless to say, I’ve gained a few and the mid-section is feeling a lot more tubby than usual. Where are you my already-meager abs? It’s feeling pretty pasty where you used to be.

But I’m not going to wallow or feel sorry for myself. The only thing I’m gonna do is jump right back in, and get back in shape with renewed determination to do well both on the fitness and food fronts. Besides getting back to healthy eating, I’m starting on a 63-day journey with Shaun T again, but this time, I’m going to have him kicking my butt on the Insanity program. And judging from the Fit Test that he put me through on Day 1 of the series, this truly is the bigger, badder (and eviler) stepsister of the T25 program.
